Murukku / (Rice Murukku) / Kerala Style Murukku

This is a special type of murukku which is famous in Kerala. This recipe does not use gram flour or Maida, so it is slightly harder and crispier than other murukkus. But this gets the authentic taste of Kerala murukku which we used to eat in our childhood 🙂

Step4: Keep a pan on heat and add oil for deep frying. Once it is hot, put the murukku into it and reduce the heat/flame to low. It takes few minutes to cook on one side, turn it and cook again. Once it is changing color and stiff, take out from the oil and keep on a kitchen towel. A batch of murukkus can be prepared together if the pan is big and there is enough oil in it.

I love cooking and trying out various recipes, and also to come up with ways to achieve good results in reasonable time and effort ? All of the recipes I post here were tried out by me at least 2-3 times (if not a few dozen times) before I was happy with a simple method which gives me good results. Hope you enjoy making these dishes. Would be thrilled if you let me know in the comments how your experiment went. If you have recipe requests for any Malabar dishes, please contact me and I’ll make every effort to get the recipe, try it out and post it here.
