As I mentioned in my kallummakkaya fry recipe, here goes one more.
This is a healthy one with no compromise on taste 😉
Ingredients:
- Kallummakkaya(Mussels) : 2 cup
- Onion : 2 medium
- Shallot (small onion) : 8 Nos.
- Curry leaves: 10-15 Nos.
- Green Chilli: 4 Nos.
- Ginger (sliced) : 1 teaspoon
- Red Chilli Powder : 1 teaspoon
- Turmeric Powder : 1/4 teaspoon
- Water : 1 cup.
- Salt : 1/2 teaspoon (to taste)
- Coconut oil : 3 tablespoons
- Grated coconut: 1/2 cup
Step 1:
Cut onion and shallot to small pieces. Cut green chillies length-wise to two pieces. Keep it aside.
Step 2:
In a big pan add mussels, onions, shallots, green chillies, curry leaves, ginger, salt, water, turmeric and red chilli powder and mix well. That means all ingredients except coconut oil & grated coconut.
Step 3: Keep the pan on a low flame and close the lid. Stir this mix every 5 minutes. Check mussels after 10-15 minutes. If it is not cooked well, add little more water and cook again. Once it is cooked and water is less add grated coconut and mix well. Keep again for 5 minutes by closing the lid.
Open and spread oil. Keep it again for couple of minutes.
Your Podithooval is ready.
