Juice/Smoothie

Grape Juice (Cooked)

There are different varieties of grape juices like cooked juice, uncooked and fresh, Arabian pulpy, grape juice mixed with other vegetables or fruits etc. I think most prefered one for me is cooked grape juice which can be stored for many days in refridgerator and can be served chill as and when required. And no need to worry about itchy lips and throat which I do get sometimes with uncooked grape juice 😉

Ingredients :
Black Grapes : 1kg
Water : 5 cups
Sugar : 2 cups

Preparation :
Step 1:
Wash grapes by keeping it in turmeric and salt water for 2-3 hours.

In a pressure cooker add water, grapes and sugar and keep it on flame/heat and wait for 2 whistles. Reduce the flame/heat to the lowest and take out from the heat after 10 minutes.

Step 2:
After 2-3 hours open the pressure cooker. Squeeze, strain and take out the liquid. Some more sugar might be required if grape is not sweet.

Store in the refrigerator and serve chill !!

I love cooking and trying out various recipes, and also to come up with ways to achieve good results in reasonable time and effort ? All of the recipes I post here were tried out by me at least 2-3 times (if not a few dozen times) before I was happy with a simple method which gives me good results. Hope you enjoy making these dishes. Would be thrilled if you let me know in the comments how your experiment went. If you have recipe requests for any Malabar dishes, please contact me and I’ll make every effort to get the recipe, try it out and post it here.
