Spicy Potato fry is a very simple side dish and I would say another version of french fries. But this is shallow fried by marinating potato using chilli powder & turmeric. Curry leaves are used for frying which helps to get a better taste and aroma. Moreover curry leaves when dipped in hot oil spreads out all its medicinal qualities to the oil and it helps to reduce the cholestrol.
Preparation time is very less, so I prefer to categorize this in bachelor cooking 🙂
- Potatoes : 2 medium size
- Turmeric Powder: 1/2 teaspoon
- Chilli Powder :2 teaspoons
- Garam/Chicken Masala: 1/2 teaspoon [Optional – I dont prefer to add this]
- Curry Leaves : 5-6 Nos
- Salt : 1/2 teaspoon (to taste)
- Water 3-4 teaspoons
- Oil : 3-4 teaspoons [For frying]
Step 1: Marinate Potato
Cut potatoes to lengthy pieces as shown in the picture. In a bowl take turmeric powder, chilli powder,salt, water, garam masala(optional) and mix well. Add potatoes in to it and mix again.
Step 2: Fry Potato
On flame/heat, keep a non-stick pan and add oil. Add curry leaves and then add potatoes. Keep in low/medium flame and close the lid.
Turn the potatoes to other side after 5-6 minutes. Repeat this till potato is fully fried.
Enjoy your spicy potato with rice and daal!
