Pazham Pori / Batter Fried Banana / Batter Fried Plantain

Another banana recipe which I have mentioned in pazha pradhaman. Use fully ripened banana/plantain to get soft chewy pazham poris.

Ingredients

  • Maida : 1.5 cups
  • Water : 1 cup (slightly above)
  • Sugar : 1/2 cup (1/4 cup would be fine, if banana is sweet)
  • Plantain/ Big Bananas (fully ripened) : 2
  • Oil : For deep frying

Step 1:
Mix well maida, water and sugar and keep aside for 10-15 minutes.

Step 2:
Cut banana/plantain into thin slices as shown. I did not get fully ripened bananas this time 🙁

Step 3:
Keep frying pan on high flame/heat and add enough oil. Once it is hot, dip each slice in the batter and place into the hot oil. Place some more dipped banana pieces. Reduce the flame/heat to medium flame. While placing bananas oil should be very hot, and then reduce it to medium. After 1-2 minutes, turn bananas and let it cook again for few more minutes or till it becomes golden color.

Take it out from oil and keep it in kitchen paper to drain out extra oil.

Goes well with movie or gossips 🙂

I love cooking and trying out various recipes, and also to come up with ways to achieve good results in reasonable time and effort ? All of the recipes I post here were tried out by me at least 2-3 times (if not a few dozen times) before I was happy with a simple method which gives me good results. Hope you enjoy making these dishes. Would be thrilled if you let me know in the comments how your experiment went. If you have recipe requests for any Malabar dishes, please contact me and I’ll make every effort to get the recipe, try it out and post it here.
